RIES, Audrey

Audrey Bartlett Ries, a long time resident of Chandler, passed away January 17th, 2004, in her home in Twinsburg, Ohio. While a resident of Chandler, Mrs. Ries, was a member of the Chandler Service Club for over 50 years. She was a past president and a life member of the organization. She also participated in many other civic activities, was a contributor to the Chandler Historical Society, and was very active in her church, St. Matthews Episcopal, in Chandler. In 1937 Audrey (Susie), was married to Dan Francis until his death in 1965. They came to Chandler in 1938, where Dan was a business leader, and in the 1940's he served as mayor of Chandler. Mrs. Ries was also preceded in death, by her husbands Olin (Buddy) Newell and Herbert Ries, also of Chandler. A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survived by her daughter Helen (Lorri) Chubbuck, and Robert Chubbuck of Twinsburg, Ohio; son Daniel Francis and Mariette Francis of Indianapolis; granddaughter Heather Chenevert of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Grandson Robert Chubbuck, of Leesburg, Va., 6 great grand children; and her sister Beverly Bartlett of Sedona. Memorial services will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, March 13th, 2004, and her remains will rest at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler. The family has asked that contributions be made in her name to The Salvation Army or Easter Seal Society. Published in the Arizona Republic on 2/8/2004.
