Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, October 18, 1974 Roy Whitman Visitation Today Roy L. Whitman, 21, died Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Nogales, Ariz. He was born Feb. 24, 1953 at Darby, Pa. and came to Prescott from Maryland seven years ago. He had lived in Tucson for the past four years. Mr. Whitman was graduated from Prescott High School in 1971 and was a senior at the University of Arizona, majoring in bio-physics. He was working in the nuclear laboratory under Dr. Ginslar at Tucson and also in bio-physics with Dr. Kilkson, in preparation for going into medical research. Mr. Whitman was honored in the NASA-NSTA Youth Science Congress, Mathematics Society, Navy Science Cruiser Award and the U.S. Air Force Award for Life Sciences. He had won the International Science Award for development of electro stimulation. He was also known for his art work at Prescott. Survivors include: his parents, Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Whitman of Prescott; a sister, Mrs. Peggy White, also of Prescott. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the American Lutheran Church with private cremation to follow at Mountain View Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Friday) at Memory Chapel. He had been honored for youth science conference work. He held th Navy Science Cruiser Award, the Air Force Life Science Award and won an international science award for development of electro-stimulation. His hobby was painting and he was well known locally for his art work. Survivors include his parents, Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Whitman, and a sister, Mrs. Peggy White.
