MERRITT, SR., Harold Bruce


The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, November 6, 1974 Harold Bruce Merritt, Sr. Dies in Phoenix Harold Bruce Merritt, Sr., 84 died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix Monday. He had lived in the Prescott area for the past 40 years and had operated lumber mills in Camp Wood and Chino Valley. He was born Dec. 10, 1890 in Crowley, La. and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He came to Arizona in 1933 and opened a lumber mill in Camp Wood. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with membership in the New Orleans Grand Lodge and was a member of the Chino Valley Congregational Church. Survivors include his widow, Clarence Constance, of Chino Valley; three sons, Charles H. of Littleton, Colo., Harold Bruce, Jr., and Fred L. of Williams; four daughters Mrs. Claribel Pippin, and Grace Merritt of Phoenix, Mrs. Pauline Colcord, of Valentine, Mrs. Lois Merritt Ward, of Prescott; one sister, Mrs. Joyce Adams of Athens, Ga; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Ruffner Funeral Home on Friday at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Chino Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at Ruffner Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
