Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Thursday, December 15, 2011 - Dorothy Elizabeth Gillespie, 92, passed away Dec. 11, 2011 in Lake Havasu City. She was born on Feb. 1, 1919, in Texas, to Loyd and Bertha (Sullins) Curlee. Dorothy was a resident of Lake Havasu City for 34 years, coming from Downey, Calif., where her and her late husband, Richard Vernon Gillespie, lived for over 42 years. They married in Texas April 11, 1938. She will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Daryl Ann (Orval) Maritt, of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Kim Williams and Robert Davenport; great-grandchildren, Jared Williams, Dan Davenport, Matthew Davenport and Rachel Hergle; and one great-great grandson, Oliver Heagle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gillespie; daughter, Dorothy Jean; and son, Richard Vernon.
