METELSKI, Ronald L.


Ronald L. Metelski passed away peacefully Saturday, February 7, 2004, after a six month battle with Cancer. He was born December 20, 1954 in Phoenix, AZ. Ron is the son of Norma (Metelski) Mize and Raymond Metelski (deceased). He was the respected head of his family and is survived by his wife of 31 years, Crystal, his three children, Raymond, Leslie & Laura. He was the loving grandfather of Autumn, Tabitha, Hunter, Zoey & Savannah. In addition, Ron was brother to Mike, Mark, Sandi & David. Ron loved the outdoors and thought there was nothing better than a good day fishing. He always loved catching the "Big One". His other interests include hiking, camping and best of all, a trip to the casino now and then. Ron served as Deacon at the Desert Sun Baptist Church. Ron will always be remembered as a man of Integrity. His strong beliefs were an inspiration to others. Those who knew and loved him are comforted in the knowledge that Ron is at peace and at home with his God. Ron served on the Phoenix Police Department at the Desert Horizons Precinct as a patrol officer for 25 years. Many new officers have been influenced by Ron in his capacity as Field Training Officer. Ron's no nonsense style will be long remembered. His fellow officers will tell you that he was a "Darn good officer". God, grant Ron peace. He will be sorely missed. Arrangements were handled by the A.L. Moore - Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. Funeral was conducted at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel with Graveside Services following at Phoenix Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the Metelski family is requesting donations be made to: Phoenix Police Officers Emergency Relief Fund, 620 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85003, Attn: Legal Unit Published in the Arizona Republic on 2/10/2004.
