West Valley View, Avondale, AZ Friday, December 06, 2011 John Wilson, 84, of Goodyear died Dec. 1, 2011, at Baptist Village Nursing Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mr. Wilson was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Madison County, N.C. He was a retired Air Force veteran and served in both military and civilian capacities as an equipment specialist. He was awarded both the World War II Victory Medal and the Japan Occupational Medal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera. He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Self; four sisters, Daisy Frankel, Jo Ann Weekly, Jean Lester and Carolyn Saltz; one brother, Richard; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A private family service has been held. His ashes will be scattered at a family plot in Bracketville, Tex. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/index.asp.
