Vesta Lou (Bradley) Rhodes passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, Texas. Mrs. Rhodes was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 4, 1922, and spent most of her childhood and high school years in Prescott that had been living in Texas with her daughter for the past year and a half.
Her parents, Herschel and Eva Bradley, formerly of Prescott, had two daughters, Vesta and Mary. Mary lives in North Carolina surrounded by her family and two daughters and a son and their families.
Vesta married her high school sweetheart, Ceburn Donald Rhodes, in July of 1943, and they were married until his death in 1994. During their 61 years of marriage, Don and Vesta lived in Arizona and Southern California before returning to Phoenix in 1979.
Mrs. Rhodes leaves a daughter, Kathleen, living in Keller, Texas; a son, Don, who lives in Flagstaff, Arizona; a grandson, Benjamin; and a great grandson, Kinamee.
Vesta enjoyed attending Prescott High School reunions, and most of her friends today were her friends in school. While living in Prescott, Vesta was a member of Eastern Star and participated in the Smoki ceremonials. She will be missed by her many close friends and her family.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Rosecrans Veterans Cemetery in San Diego, California.
