KORACIN, Frank T.


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, February 20, 2007 Frank Koracin, 78, of Prescott, died Saturday, February 17, 2007. A memorial service for Frank will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 1 p.m. at American Lutheran Church in Prescott. Frank was born in Cleveland, Ohio, March 23, 1928, to Frank and Jennie Koracin. He grew up in Cleveland attending school where he learned to become a draftsman. He also worked on a freighter that traversed the Great Lakes. At the age of 27, he became blind and was trained through the Cleveland Society of the Blind to operate retail shops. He married Ruth E. Lindseth in September of 1961. They had three children, Frank, Thomas and Katharine. Frank was very successful operating his own candy, tobacco and newspaper shop in the Cleveland Federal Building. In 1977, Frank retired and moved with his family to Prescott for its great climate. While in Prescott, Frank served on the board of the Prescott Blind Center, He sang in the Community Chorale and with the local Barbershop Group. He loved music and enjoyed playing his harmonica at home. He was active with CB and HAM radio. On CB he was known as Slim and on HAM he was KB7-YVU. He rode tandem bikes with his wife for several years and he enjoyed camping - traveling to all 50 states. He enjoyed reading nonfiction books and kept up with current events via ‘talking books.’ He was a great sports fan who enjoys listening to all the games of the Prescott Badgers, ASU Sun Devils, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Browns. He will be sorely missed. Frank is survived by his wife, Ruth Koracin of Prescott ; son, Frank T.; and grandson Frank C. of Prescott; son, Thomas of New River; daughter Katharine and husband, Rick; and grandson, Daniel of San Diego, Calif.; sister, Emma Bosich of St. Charles, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the American Lutheran Church Pipe Organ Fund, 1085 Scott Dr., Prescott, Ariz., 86301.
