HAMBLIN, Charles Leon


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/23/2011 Charles Leon Hamblin, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, in Eagar. He was born Dec. 4, 1936, in St. Johns, the son of Lee and Elsie Burk Hamblin. Leon served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1955-59. He retired in 2003 as a Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager for Green Construction Washington Group International-Morrison Knudsen. Leon loved his family and enjoyed all the time spent hunting, fishing, and camping with them. After building many golf courses, he enjoyed playing the game. He studied history and spent many hours metal detecting old homesteads and ghost towns. He was very proud of his service in the Army during the Korean War and loved his country. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Hamblin; son James Hamblin; brother Roy Lynn Hamblin; and sister Gloria H. Eagar. Leon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Karol Hamblin, Douglas Hamblin, and Orvin Hamblin. A viewing will be held from 7-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2011 at the Eagar Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eagar.
