Burt H. Clingan, 85, died Tuesday at Yavapai Community Hospital here. He was chairman of the Arizona Industrial Commission from 1926 in 1923. Mr. Clingan was born at Delaware, Ohio, and served in World War I as a second lieutenant of field artillery in France and in World War II as a major in the 2nd division of the 8th Air Force in England.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason and was commander of the Arizona American Legion in 1921. He came to Phoenix with his family in 1906, where he was a resident until 1968, when he retired to his mountain home in the Groom Creek area, near here.
Survivors include his widow, Mildred D. Clingan, of Prescott.
Private family services will be held Friday at Ruffner funeral home That. Cremation will be at Mountain View Crematory.
