Evert Kinsey Ellis, age 88, peacefully left us to be with our Heavenly Father on October 28, 2006. He was born in Grimes, Iowa, January 11, 1918, the first-born son of Everette and Bernice Ellis.
Evert attended Drake University on a full music scholarship and graduated at the young age of 20 with an accounting degree. He was immediately recruited by Hormel Meat Company as their assistant controller.
The Navy commissioned him during World War II but at government request he remained at Hormel to keep the plant running.
In 1947, after the tragic loss of his wife Mary, he and his two sons relocated to Southern California. There he began his long career with Northrop Aircraft and met and married his second wife, Emily.
He and Emily combined families and raised four children together.
In 1980, they both retired from Northrop Aircraft and move to Prescott, Ariz., Where they spent their next 20 years.
Evert loves music and he loved to sing. He sang in church choirs and many small groups. His last two-and-a-half years were spent at the Life Care Center of Scottsdale after losing Emily in January of 2004. There, he won the hearts of many, still singing until the day he left us.
He was preceded in death by two spouses, Mary and Emily; one son, Robert Ellis, and two younger brothers, Eldon and Lovell Ellis.
He is survived by son Richard Ellis Oak Grove, Oklahoma; and two stepchildren, Eric Baylor of Fullerton, California, and Sue Bukett, of Scottsdale, Ariz., six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
All will remember him and his beautiful voice.
