Loyde G. Peterson, 79, Prescott, Ariz., died Jan. 18, 2000, in Prescott.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at American Lutheran Church, Prescott, with the Rev. Daniel Storvick officiating.
Loyde was born on Sept. 2, 1920, in Nome, to Martin and Fannie (Strand) Peterson. He married Ruth M. Reiten on Nov. 26, 1942, in Hastings.
While living in North Dakota, he was an active member in several community and American Lutheran Church activities. He was an honorary member of the Mayville State College Alumni Association, past president of the Rotary Club in Jamestown, and former president of the Public School Officers Association of North Dakota.
After his retirement in 1987 from the Mayville State College, the Peterson's moved to Arizona where he was president of the Cordes Lakes Community Association. Since 1967, Loyde had enjoyed raising and riding quarterhorses, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his sons, L. Gregory and his wife, Sharon, Indianapolis, Ind., and W. Scott and his wife, Diana, Velva; his daughters, Sara Bondesen and husband, Jay, Madera, Calif., Linda Vrooman and husband, Nicholas, Helena, Mont., Mariann Duff and husband Darren, Phoenix, and Rita and husband Roy Pallatt, Republic of Singapore; his sisters, Frances Swensen, Mount Prospect, Ill., and Dorothy, Santa Rose, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
