Yardley News, Yardley, Pennsylvania Sunday, July 12, 2000 Steve West Steve West died peacefully at Pennswood Village in Newtown on July 1. He was born June 2, 1953, and graduated from George School in 1971. He attended Prescott College in Arizona and studied marine biology at the College of the Atlantic in Maine. Mr. West was a naturalist and loved whitewater canoeing, rock climbing, and sailing. He was an Outward Bound trip leader. He worked as a firefighter and carpenter-contractor in Santa Fe, N.M. He taught environmental courses at Antioch University in Philadelphia and was an artisan, creating fine furniture and cabinetry at his studio in Rosemont, N.J. He lived in New Hope for many years. Mr. West died of complications after a decade-long struggle with multiple sclerosis. He leaves his daughter, Amber, of Albuquerque, and his mother, Beth Barnes of Pennswood Village in Newtown. He is also survived by his brothers, Rick West of St. John, U.S.V.I., and Rodney West of Richmond, Vt.; stepmother Winny West of Yardley; stepsiblings Bonnie Barnes of Vergennes, Vt.; Eric Barnes of Morrisville; and Prudence Haines of Moylan; and ex-wife Greta Roskom, of Rio Rancho, N.M. His father, Robert West of Yardley, and his stepfather, Robert Barnes of Pennswood predeceased him.
