George E. Janack, Sr., 71, Dewey, Ariz., a native of Ogdensburg, died Feb. 22 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Prescott, Ariz.
Born Jan. 16, 1929, in Ogdensburg, son of Edward and Jesse Barkley Janack, he attended school until eighth grade, when he started working as a mechanic for a few years in Canton. He also was a driver for many years for Durkee Bakery.
He married Sharon Lee Coller on Jan. 15, 1972. He had been married previously to Ellen M. Mathews in 1950 at Canton.
Mr. Janack was working for B.F. Goodrich in April 1972, when the couple moved from Carthage to Phoenix, Ariz. His career with B.F. Goodrich took him to many cities throughout California and Texas until he retired in 1992 and moved to Dewey.
For many years during the 1960s, he enjoyed playing in a country and western band, The Seaway Wanderers, at various clubs. He played guitar and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.
Among his survivors, besides his wife, is a son, George E. Jr., Dewey.
A daughter, Lynn Marie, died Dec. 6, 1971.
The funeral was Feb. 26 at Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel, Prescott.
Burial was in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Prescott.
