Wilmette Life, Wilmette, Illinois Thursday, May 4, 2000 Former Glencoe resident Robert Arthur Williams Jr., 72, died April 15 in Paradise Valley, Ariz., where he had lived since 1974. Born in St. Louis, Mo., he was a graduate of Washington and Lee University. From 1950 to 1953 he served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Williams retired as the founding president and CEO of Northern Trust Co. of Arizona. At the time of his death, he was a council member for the town of Paradise Valley, where he wrote the town's first code of ethics. He was chairman of the board of the Arizona Retirement System and chairman of the board of Scotts Memorial Hospital. He was secretary of the board of the Arizona Community Foundation. He enjoyed hiking, running, traveling, skiing and studying the scriptures and the history of the U. S. Civil War. He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Williams Ficker of Phoenix and Anne Binsley Williams, of Scottsdale; four sons, Robert Arthur Williams III of Prescott, Ariz., Brantley Davis Williams of San Diego, Thomas Jonathan Williams of Los Angeles and Timothy Ford Williams of Kelvin, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren. A memorial service was held April 25 in Paradise Valley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anne P. Williams Fund at the Arizona Community Foundation, 2122 E.
