GOWENS, Kirk Alan (Kirkie)

Kirk Alan "Kirkie" Gowens Jr., 14, died Sept. 26, 2006 at home in Florence.

A private memorial service was planned.

Kirkie was born Jan. 2, 1992 in Chapel Hill, N.C., to Joyce D. (Riccio) and Kirk A. Gowens Sr. He was fun-loving and free-spirited and loved watching "Sesame Street," with his favorite characters Elmo and the Cookie Monster. He loved his family and going to Florence High School.

In addition to his parents, survivors include a brother, Zach A. Gowens of Florence; three sisters, Samantha, Jessica R. and Marie E. Gowens of Florence; and grandparents, Marie and Kenneth Snethen of Mesa, Rose and Domenick Riccio of Lawrenceville, Ga.

Simes Mortuaries Coolidge Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
