Donald Keith Crowell, 81, of Scottsdale, passed away December 26, 2011. He was born July 18, 1930 in Rochester, MN. Donald was a veteran of the Korean War, in which he played in the Army band. He devoted his life to music and was an accomplished trumpet player. He was an instrumental music teacher in the Madison School District of Phoenix. He was also a member of the Ahwatukee Concert Band and the Dixieland Swing Ensemble.
Donald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy, as well as sons Jeffrey Crowell, Kirby Crowell and Bailey Crowell (Jill), all of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy.
A visitation will be held in Donald’s honor Friday, December 30th from 6:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd. in Scottsdale.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 31st at 9:30 AM at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 1030 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale. Committal services will immediately follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church or Evercare Hospice.
