DIXON, Jan Hillman


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, July 18, 2003 Jan Hillman Dixon, 61, of Meridian, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, July 14, 2003. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Central Valley Baptist Church, 2150 West Cherry Lane in Meridian. Pastor Clint Henry will officiate, assisted by Jason Cicero. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian. Jan Dixon was born August 27, 1941 in Gaffney, South Carolina to Clarence Bruce Dixon and Virginia Spencer Dixon. He graduated from Gaffney High School and attended Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona. Dixon enlisted in the United States Air Force at Charlotte, North Carolina in July 1960 and was honorably discharged in April 1965 after serving with the 4510 Combat Support Group as a Freight Traffic Specialist. He was awarded the Air Forces' Good Conduct Medal. Jan married Connie Kellison in 1970 at Casa Grande, Arizona after meeting at Royal Palms Baptist Church in Phoenix. Together they made their home in Phoenix, Arizona until 1998. He and his wife moved to Morristown, Tennessee in 1998 and Meridian, Idaho in August 2002. He retired from the AT&T Cable Plant in Phoenix, Arizona in October 1995 after 25 years and pursued a lifelong passion as a commercial pilot. He was employed by Grand Canyon Airways and Superior Aviation among others. His hobbies included fly-fishing, woodworking, gardening and being a handyman. Jan is survived by his loving wife, Connie and three daughters: Celeste, Erica and Sarah; two sons-in-law: Ed and Jason; and six grandchildren: Brandon, Samantha, McKenna, Caitlyn, Madison, and Abigail; two brothers, Gary of North Carolina, and Rodney of South Carolina. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Central Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 2150 W. Cherry Lane, Meridian, ID 83642.
