EDWARDS, Robert Monroe


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, July 18, 2003 Robert M. Edwards of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away Monday evening, July 14, 2003. He was born in 1924 in El Paso, Texas, son of Wiley and Margarite Edwards. Bob grew up in El Paso and attended Texas A & M College before joining the army. During WWII, he served in the Corp of Engineers in the South Pacific. His three children, Wiley, Doreen, John, and, three step children, David, Judy and RJ Hawker and four grandchildren will remember him with many fond memories. Bob graduated from New Mexico A & M and spent his working years mostly in construction. He and his loving wife, Lois, spent several years living in Saudi Arabia and traveling extensively. After returning home, they spent much of their retirement years enjoying life in the Pinetop, Strawberry, and Pine areas before moving back to the Valley full time due to his health. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday morning, 11:00 a.m. July 22, 2003, at Hope Community Church, 7901 East Sweetwater Ave., Scottsdale 85260. Memorials may be given to the church, or to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower St.. Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656. Both organizations provided wonderful support to the family during the past four months, which was greatly appreciated.
