HOFFMAN, Robert Joseph


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, July 18, 2003 Robert Joseph Hoffman, 39 passed away on July 12, 2003. Born February 6, 1964 in Joliet, Illinois and moved to Warren, Ohio in 1965. He graduated from Howland High School in 1982. In his youth he was active in Little League & YMCA Indian Guides. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, Ohio and participated in the bell ringer's choir and Boy Scout Troop. He coached a little league soccer team and was active in the Howland marching band and tennis team. Graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Psychology in 1986 and Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arizona in 1992. Passed both the Arizona and Ohio bar exams and worked for Dworkin & Berstein law firm in Painsville, Ohio. Upon returning to Arizona in 1996, the place he loved, he worked at Arizona Food Sales and Kaplan Testing Company. He was currently traveling throughout the country giving seminars and providing admissions counseling for law school applicants. He enjoyed playing softball, pool, and hiking the trails in the mountains of Arizona. He twice hiked the Grand Canyon and enjoyed life and wanted to learn everything he could. He is survived by his parents, Marilyn and Joseph Hoffman of Warren, Ohio; sister and brother - in - law, Nancy and Greg Whitlock of Newport, Virginia; 2 nieces, Katelyn & Sarah and nephew, Robert Preston Whitlock. He also leaves cousins, Lynne Burlinghaus of Ohio and Deborah Cline of Baltimore and David & Kevin Ponta of Pennsylvania and a special friend, Christina Riedel. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Messinger Mortuary Chapel, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ. A memorial service will be held later in Warren, Ohio. A memorial fund will be set up in Robert's name for students wishing to further their education or career goals. Prayers for Robert will be greatly appreciated.
