Johnnie Lou Allen, 78, of Tempe, AZ passed away July 16, 2003 in Mesa.
She was born March 28, 1925 to John Williams and Julie Warb Jones in
Ewing, Alabama. On October 29, 1942 in Guinn, AL Johnnie married Clint
Allen. Johnnie was a member of the Daysprings United Methodist Church
and the Silvis Garden Club. She was the secretary of American Business
Women's Association and worked at Sable's Jeweler's. She also worked for
John Deere in Moline, IL where she retired 18 years ago. Johnnie
relocated to Arizona in 1987, where she was Treasurer on the Board of
Bradley Manor Town Homes Association. Johnnie was a Rock Hound for the
Arizona Leaverite Rock and Gem Society, and was apart of the Maricopa
Lapidary Society. She also enjoyed playing cards at the senior center
with her girlfriends. She loved the desert and four wheel driving and
her friend Ed who she met in 1989. She was preceded in death by an
infant daughter Johnnie Anne in 1944, a brother Tom in 1998, and husband
Clint Allen in 1985. She is survived by her daughter Julie Gates of
Moline, IL; son Bill Allen, Estes Park, CO; grandchildren Jessica Gates,
Phoneix, AZ, Andrea Allen, Los Angeles, CA, Clint Allen, Fort Collins,
CO, and Allen John Gates, Moline, IL; speical friend Ed Borowski, Tempe,
AZ; brother Ed Jones, Shelby, AL; niece Sue Pugh, Canyon City, OR; and
nephew Jeff Allen, El Cajon, CA.
Memorial service will be Sat. July 19 at 1:00 pm at Carr Tenney
Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd. Tempe, AZ.
