HENSON, Velma P.

Arizona Republic (Phoenix AZ) Tuesday, November 8, 2011 Velma P. Henson, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away November 5, 2011 at the age of 86. She was married to her loving husband, Harold Henson, for 59 yerars and is survived by two children, Patsy and Paul W (Bill) Henson, one grandchild and two great grandsons. Velma joined the American Legion Auxiliary in Wickenburg, Arizona, in 1950 and started volunteering in the Girls State Program after moving to Phoenix. In 1966 Velma was installed as President of the Department of Arizona, American Legion Auxiliary and from 1971-1983 she served as the Director of their Girls State Program. Donations in Velma's name can be sent to the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements by Hansen Mortuary.
