The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/30/2011 Deanna Lynn (Gullett) Giffis passed away peacefully at age 50, on Dec. 17, 2011, with her loving husband Craig by her side. A tragic auto accident left Deanna a quadriplegic 18 months ago and she fought valiantly to still be a mom to Sarah, her daughter of 14 years. Deanna was born in Phoenix August 1, 1961 to Don and Jeannette Gullett. She grew up in Pinetop where she graduated from Blue Ridge High School. Deanna graduated from ASU summa cum laude and became a stockbroker for Shearson-Lehman. Deanna was a past Grand Worthy Master for the Rainbow Girls. She participated in pom and cheer squads in high school. Deanna volunteered at Good Sam Preemie Care and cared for the addicted babies. Being a seven-year breast cancer survivor, Deanna became vice president of Arizona Institute for Breast Health. Survivors include her husband Craig, her daughter Sarah, father Don, sister Wendy and extended family. A memorial service is planned on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road. Contributions may be made to the Arizona Institute for Breast Health.
