The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Saturday, July 19, 2003 Joseph L. MacLeod Jr. Joe left this life peacefully after a long and valiant struggle with diabetes on July 14, 2003 at his home in north Scottsdale. Joe was born to Hazel (McClanahan) and Joseph L. MacLeod on April 4, 1933 in East Detroit, Michigan. He entered the United States Marine Corp in 1952 remaining until 1955 when he came to Tempe to attend Arizona State University where he received his B.A. In his capacity as manager of Quality Control and then Director of Field Service Representatives at Allied Signal, Joe enjoyed the privilege of extensive world-wide travel. He retired in 1990. Joe enjoyed camping, fishing and exploring all the beautiful places of Arizona. When he was no longer able to travel he continued his quest for knowledge though books and videos. His sons Timothy MacLeod of Scottsdale and Thomas and (wife) Dola MacLeod of Homedale, Idaho survive Joe. Grandchildren Ame MacLeod of Phoenix, Bailey MacLeod of Winterhaven, Fla., Anaka, Sonya and Ezra Dawn MacLeod of Homedale, Idaho; sisters Barbara MacLeod and Beverley Shoumate of Warren, Mi. and brother Greg MacLeod of Sterling Heights, Michigan. Joe is deeply missed by friends and family. Services will be at Hansen Mortuary 6500 East Bell Road Scottsdale, Az. 85254 an Monday, July 21, 2003. 8:30 AM Visitation. 9:30 AM Service. Burial service will follow at National Memorial cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
