MARTINEZ, Jose Javier

West Valley View, Avondale, AZ Tuesday, December 27, 2011 Jose Javier Martinez, 84, of Avondale died Dec. 19, 2011, at his home. Mr. Martinez was born on April 26, 1927, in Los Angeles to Licia Muñoz and Jose. He was a designated gunner's mate on destroyers in the Navy, and fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he worked as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service, working his way up to supervisor before retiring. He relocated to Avondale with his wife in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Irma; four daughters, Laura, Leticia, Jean and Lorie; four sons, Francis, James, Jeffrey and Jason; four step-daughters, Sylvia, Norma, Lucille and Rebecca; one sister, Chita; one brother, Raul; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
