KOENIGER, Electra Theresa

West Valley View, Avondale, AZ Friday, December 30, 2011 Electra Theresa Koeniger, 84, of Litchfield Park died Dec. 25, 2011, at Kindred Hospital Arizona-Phoenix Northwest in Peoria. Mrs. Koeniger was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Dime Box, Texas, to Adolph and Johanna Zelenevitz-Spacek. She attended school in Dime Box and graduated in 1943 as the class valedictorian. She graduated from Scott & White School of Nursing in Temple, Texas, in 1947, and from Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia in New Orleans in 1949. She worked at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, La., and as a nurse anesthetist in Anchorage, Alaska. She married Dr. Peter Koeniger in 1960. Mrs. Koeniger was an amateur golfer who competed in U.S., state, regional and club tournaments, winning many awards and recognitions over the years. In 1984, she finished 13th at the USGA Senior Women's Championship in Tacoma, Wash. She is survived by her husband, Peter; and one brother, Woodrow Spacek of Dime Box, Texas. A rosary recital will be at 9:30 a.m. today and a Mass celebration at 10 a.m. at Thompson Valley West Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, in Goodyear.
