The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Saturday, July 19, 2003 Elizabeth Louise Leyva Weaver passed away on July - 16, 2003. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 8, 1949, to Rudy and Eva Dong Leyva. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Weaver - and children Ileana Weaver, Keren Hudson, Lauren Mendez and Jack C. Weaver. She is also survived by Eva Leyva her mother, sister Cynthia Leyva and brother Michael Leyva as well as 4 grandchildren Driana Jackson, Malik Reed, Michael Mendez and Dylan Hudson. Liz was a second generation Arizonan who loved life, her family and friends. She had a durable and endearing sense of humor, and her antics will be long remembered and laughed about. Everyone was always welcomed to her home, as her casa was su casa. She was the first college graduate in her family, obtaining her undergraduate and masters degrees in secondary education from Northern Arizona University. She taught at Sunnyslope High, Taylor Jr. High in Mesa and Hendrix Jr. High in Chandler. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Chandler, Arizona. Elizabeth will be remembered as a wonderful, loving and caring person and as a role model for many. She loved life to the fullest. Her faith and perseverance never faltered in the face of her eight-year battle against breast cancer. Our hearts are saddened by our loss, but we will cherish the precious moments we spent with her, and rejoice knowing that she is in the loving arms of her personal savior, Jesus Christ. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 20, 2003, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ.
