Violet Lucille Martin, 89, died Friday, July 11, 2003 at Arbor Rose
Senior Living Residence, Mesa, AZ.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Velda Rose
Methodist Church, 5540 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ.
Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Hannibal, MO.
Violet was born in Frankford, MO on December 23, 1913 the daughter of
Lucy Geist and Daniel Watson Strother. Violet graduated from Hannibal
LaGrange College, Hannibal, MO and Drake University, Des Moines, IA. She
taught elementary school in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa. Violet was very
musically inclined and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include two sons, Dan from San Francisco, CA, Mark and his
wife Marcia of Bettendorf, IA; two grandchildren, Michael Martin and his
wife Shawna of Muscatine, IA and Merissa Martin of Muscatine, IA;
numerous nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; five
sisters, Ruth Wilson Stoval, Grace Haden, Edith Tompkins, May Royer,
Alice Seeber Carter; two brothers, Daniel "Major" Strother and Earl
Strother.
