Visitation is Mon., July 21, 6-8pm, Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. MacDonald St., Mesa, AZ. Services are Tues., July 22, 10am, Taylor Park Ward, 825 S. 32nd St., Mesa, AZ. Burial to follow in Thatcher, AZ. ~~~~~~~~ East Valley Tribune, Tempe, Arizona Sunday July 20, 2003 James R. Donaldson, age 88, passed away July 15, 2003 in Mesa. He was born July 12, 1915 to Sam and Elnora Donaldson in Hatchita, New Mexico. He was a printer by trade. In 1946 he was the first to use the G.I. Bill at Deseret News in Salt Lake to learn the printing trade. Before moving to Mesa Jim worked at the Daily Press in Silver City, NM, then retired after 25 years at the Mesa Tribune. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities throughout his life, including two full-time missions. He was a cheerful, kind, hard-working man. He always had time for those he loved and anyone in need of a helping hand. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nadine; children, Cynthia and Bob Wood of Lander, WY, Pam and Neil Harris of Nephi, UT, Debra and Don Hubbs of Mesa, and Burke Donaldson of Navajo, NM; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The family extends special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Springdale Village. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 10 AM in the Taylor Park Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 825 S. 32nd St., Mesa. Visitation will be Monday evening, 6-8 PM at the Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald, Mesa, and at the church one hour prior to services.
