Man’s Skeleton Found On Desert
The skeleton of a man identified by Capt. D. L. McGovney of the Maricopa County sheriff’s office as that of Jesse Bogus of Phoenix was found on the desert about 2½ miles north of Aguila Tuesday. Dr. Daniel J. Condon, County Medical Examiner who was here Wednesday to examine the remains, told the SUN that his preliminary examination indicated that the man had been dead for a considerable length of time and that there was no indication of foul play.
Capt. McGovney said that identification was made from clues furnished by an automobile driver’s license found in a wallet in the man’s pants. He said that the man, Bogus, had served a term in the Arizona State prison in 1952 and had also served time in the county jail in Phoenix in 1954. He was 49 years old. Highway Patrolman George Pemberton says that he believes Bogus was the same man who worked for a few days as a cook in Forepaugh.
Sam McGeehee found the skull while driving cattle October 17. Sheriff’s Deputies Mullenix, Richard Garcia and Reserve Highway Patrolman Bob Dyar then went to the spot where the skull was found and discovered the rest of the skeleton, the man’s pants, shoes and wallet within an area of 50 years.
