Helen Lillian Lawrence went to be with her Lord on Dec. 21, 2011.
Helen was born, Nov. 23, 1919, in Hand Station, Mich., to Martha and Arthur Paschke. On June 8, 1940, she married Therlo W. Lawrence, Sr. in the same church she had been baptized and confirmed in, Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti, Mich. Helen and Therlo had been married 67 years when he passed away in 2007.
Helen was a homemaker all of her life; lovingly taking care of her family. She loved gardening and all of nature’s gifts, reading crocheting and fishing. She was a gracious hostess, and made delicious pies, especially her famous pear pie. Helen had moved to Lake Havasu City from Hemet, Calif. in 2004 and lived in both Prestige Assisted Living facilities and Casa Grande Assisted Living Home.
Family members she leaves behind include her grandsons Erik Lawrence of Calif. and Therlo Michael Lawrence of N.J.; former daughter-in-law Cheryl Lawrence of Calif. and a sister Susan Harcas of Mich. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and several nieces and nephews including Judy and Jim Day, Carole and Gary Hettick of Lake Havasu City and Diane and Bob Pinter of Mich.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Therlo, her son Therlo William Lawrence, Jr. and a sister Mildred Wacker.
No local services will be held. Interment of Helen and Therlo’s ashes will take place on Jan. 6, 2012, at Riverside National Cemetery with their family in attendance.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staffs of both Prestige facilities, the staff of Casa Grande Assisted Living Home, and the caregivers of Hospice of Havasu. They all went above and beyond to make her life comfortable.
