WELBORN, Douglas Ward

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona August 13, 2010 Douglas Ward Welborn, 81, of Goodyear died Aug. 8, 2010, at Hospice of the Valley in Goodyear. Mr. Welborn was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Harvey, Ill., to Harley and Stella. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Ottawa University. He worked as an insurance claims professional, retiring from Michigan Bell Telephone after 30 years as claims manager in the legal department. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilynn; three daughters, Debby Rowe, Kristianne Cantu and Marcia Szostek; two sons, Scott and Kerry; three sisters, Rhoda Gratz, Olivia Berhow and Madelon Beachler; one brother, Robin Sherwood; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 26 at the Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Old Litchfield Road in Litchfield Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
