Frederick C. Scott, 76, of Goodyear died Aug. 13, 2010, in Phoenix.
Mr. Scott was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Newark, N.J. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1955 with a bachelor's degree. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1962 with a master's degree. He graduated from Creighton University in 1966 with a doctorate. He served as a captain in the Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970. He was a family practice doctor through 1978. He worked at Maryvale Hospital from 1969 to 2005 as chief of staff, director of the emergency department, chief medical officer, director and physician adviser to quality council and case management.
He was an executive for the West Valley Emergency Center from 1998 to 2003. He became the medical director at West Valley Hospital when it opened in 2003 until 2004. He served as chief medical officer for Havasu Regional Medical Center from 2006 to 2009. He was a member of the Goodyear City Council from 2003 to 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hogan; seven children, Frederick Jr. of Waco, Texas, Whitney Witasick of Marlton, N.J., Nina Scott-Fulkerson of Buckeye, Terri Bill of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Michael H. Bill of Phoenix, Betsy MacNab of Indianapolis, Ind., and Daniel Bill of Glendale; two sisters, Mildred Yannotta of Litchfield Park and Anita Schill of Bahama, N.C.; and 14 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd. in Sun City. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Road in Avondale.
Interment will follow at Sunland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sun City.
