Owens Livingston Mortuary Holbrook, Arizona Petra Salazar February 22, 1929 - December 30, 2011 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Petra Salazar of Holbrook, Arizona died at the young age of 82 on December 30, 2011. Born February 22, 1929, Petra Baca in El Tule, Arizona to Jose and Teresa Baca, deceased. Raised in St. Johns, Arizona and graduated from St. Johns High School. She met her future husband, Eloy in St. Johns and married him on May 21, 1955. Soon after, they moved to Holbrook, Arizona to start raising a family and making it their hometown. Petra worked at St. Johns hospital and Holbrook hospital for a number of years and also enjoyed being a teacher’s aide at Hulet Elementary. These employment opportunities helped give her a diversity of talents that she shared throughout the years with her family and friends. Petra also coached her son’s little league teams (she’d even pick up kids in the old Studebaker) and helped coach her daughter’s team. Petra loved her family dearly, children, laughter, sewing, upholstery, cooking, baking, gardening, singing, dancing, watching sports, visiting family, driving and going out on the town with her husband. Preceded in death by her sister: Flora Garcia and bothers: Andres Baca, Rumaldo Baca, Aresteo Baca and Senito Baca. Petra is survived by her devoted husband Eloy; her beloved children: Timothy (Joan) Salazar, Peter (Susan) Salazar and Margaret Seguirant; her wonderful grandchildren: Teresa Salazar, Adrian Salazar, Matthew Salazar, Monica Salazar, Natalie Salazar and Daniel Seguirant. Her honorary grandchildren: Kimberley Anselmo, Randall Anselmo and Logan Anselmo. Sisters: Rosa Garcia, Viola Valdivia, Erlinda Salazar and Patricia (Lupe) Tafoya; brothers: Fred (Velma) Baca and Regie (Barbara) Baca. Beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. And of course, longtime family friends from Holbrook, St. Johns and surrounding areas. Mass to celebrate her life will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 212 E. Arizona St., Holbrook, Arizona on Friday, January 6, 2012 with a 9:30 A.M. Rosary and 10:00 A.M. Mass. Internment to immediately follow Mass. Family and friends reception will be held at 12:00 P.M. at the Family Center across from the Catholic Church.
