Roderick Kennedy Meyers, age 82, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2006. He was born in Globe, Arizona in 1923.
Rod was offered to college football scholarships by both Arizona State University and Texas A& M, but chose to join the Army Air Corps and served in World War II from July 1942 to November 1945, as he turned 18 the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed. After returning to Arizona, Rod attended ASU and received a degree in business.
Rod was preceded in death by Edna, his wife of 50 years. Rod and Edna are survived by four children, Randy of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Dennis of Scottsdale, Ariz., and of Edmund, Okla., Mylinda of Yucaipa, Calif.; and their spouses. Rod and Edna also left behind 11 grandchildren into great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at the First United Methodist Church in Chino Valley, Ariz., on November 3, 2006.
The family request no flowers be sent and that any donation in Rod's memory be made to the Northern Arizona Alzheimer's Association at 225 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz., 86301.
