THIELBAR, Harry Ernest

Copper Country News, Globe, Arizona Wednesday, Dec 14th, 2011 Mr. Harry Ernest Thielbar passed away at his home in Claypool Arizona on Dec. 7, 2011 with his family surrounding him. Harry was born on Aug. 7, 1926 in Pueblo Colorado to Harry E. Thielbar and Mary L. Garey. His parents moved him at a young age to the Globe Miami area, where he attended the Miami Schools. His mother signed for him to join the Navy and he became a World War II veteran, serving from June 1944 to May 1946. One of his greatest memories of that time was that when the treaty was signed, the entire naval fleet came into the harbor in celebration. He was awed by the sight. Harry came back to this area, where he spent the remainder of his years living and working. He retired after working 32 years at Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company working in the open pit as a heavy duty equipment operator. He married the love of his life, Ruth Wooters, after meeting and courting her at the Bowling Alley in downtown Globe on April 9, 1948. They had four boys, Harry, Michael, Riley and Patrick. Harry’s love was his family and photography. He opened a photography shop in Miami in the 60s while still working at the mine. When he retired he became a very well-known photographer and his pictures are in many homes in the area. He always gave them away. He used to say “if I sell them, it would be a job and then it wouldn’t be any fun anymore.” Harry is proceeded in death by his father, Harry Thielbar; his mother, Mary; and his son, Harry Jr. He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Ruth, his sons, Michael and Riley of Claypool, and Patrick (Anna) of Apache Junction; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at Claypool United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011. There will be private military services at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, where the family has a plot. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in his name be made to Claypool United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank Copper Community Hospice, Heritage Health Center, Dr. Lee, Dr. Durham, Team Select and Lamont Mortuary for their wonderful services and support.
