HUTCHENSON, Nicodemus D.

The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, February 26, 1938 Funeral Held For Pioneer of Verde One of those who blazed the trail to Arizona, Nicodemus D. Hutchenson, Missourian by birth, who went to his reward Thursday, was laid at rest today in a place he knew so well, the Middle Verde, for he had farmed and ranch over there for 61 years. Information obtained from different sources today failed to agree on his date of birth. One had to get June 19, 1862, which would make him 75, the other June 19, 1866, which would make him 71. There was no question however, as to the length of time he had lived in Yavapai County. Surviving him is his widow, Mrs. Sarah Hutchenson, who lives over in the Verde on Beaver Creek. Invariants children also survive - Mrs. Cleola Greenwell of Cottonwood, Mrs. Cora Carpenter, Nina, Clyde, and Joe, the last named a deputy sheriff under Sheriff Robert M. Robbins until he left eight months ago for Morenci. The elder Hutchinson entered the Yavapai county hospital here January 31 last and remained until February 14, when he went to his home in the Verde area until a week later when he returned to the hospital. The Lester Ruffner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
