The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, November 8, 1948 Mrs. Mary Harter Claimed By Death Phoenix, November 8 - Funeral services will be held here tomorrow afternoon for Mrs. Mary Ann Harter, 92, who died in Good Samaritan hospital yesterday. She had been ill for a week. Mrs. Harter was brought to the West by her parents from New Orleans when she was a year old. She came to California in a sailing ship by way of Cape Horn, and lived in California until 1888. That year she came to Arizona, first living in Pinal county. She then moved to Congress, and in 1891 went to Prescott, where she lived for 30 years before coming to Phoenix in 1921. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Katherine King, of Phoenix, with whom she made her home; two sons, John J. and Harry E. Harter, sister, Annie Ralph; two brothers, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. ------------------- The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Monday, November 8, 1948 Mary Ann Harter Rites Due Today Services for Mrs. Mary Ann Harter, 92 years old, an Arizona resident for 60 years who died Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital, will be conducted at 12:30 PM Tuesday from Memory Chapel of A. L. Moore and Sons mortuary That. The Rev. Walter A. --thres will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Harter resided with her daughter, Mrs. Katherine King and two sons, John J. Harter and Harry E. Harter at 1515 W. Fillmore St. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Annie Ralph, Bisbee; two brothers, Tom Brown, Fresno, Calif. and Henry Brown, Reno Nev.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
