Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona George Gene Dawson, 80 of Flagstaff passed away January 1, 2012. Celebration of Georges Life will be 9:30 a.m. January 3, 2012 at the Norvel Owens Mortuary: 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, Arizona ~~~~~~~ Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Thursday, January 12, 2012 George Gene Dawson bravely did all he could to fight lung cancer. He lost the battle on January, 1, 2012 after spending his final days at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Coolidge Arizona in 1931, he graduated from Chandler High School while working on the family cotton farm. He served in the National Guard and then worked for Mountain Bell Telephone for 30 years. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge for many years. He settled in Flagstaff, Arizona in 1963. He was a tender-hearted, loving father, proceeded in death by his son Pat Dawson and is survived by his daughter Valerie Robles of Loveland, Colorado, his grandsons Ryan Balentine and Donovan Robles, and his brother Richard Dawson. He is also survived by his wife Jean to whom he has been a devoted husband for 23 years, his step-children Pennie Kleiner and Bill, Tim and Kelly Biggs, eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was a country boy with a charm about him that always made you feel appreciated. He spent his last days expressing gratitude and love for family. He said, "You just don't know how tough it is to let people know how much you love them." He didn't need to try to tell us, we knew it.
