The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, July 23, 2003 Arlene Goldman Smith, 92, born October 4th, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois, and resident of Phoenix of 39 years, passed away July 19, 2003 in Phoenix, Az. Daughter of the late Sarah and Sol Margolin, sister of the late Florence Orlowsky, Arlene was the wife of the late Milton H. Goldman and the late Israel Smith. She is survived by sister Harriet Schneider of Skokie Illinois, three children, Alberta Gruber and Fred Goldman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ellyn Gorman of Kauai, Hawaii, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel of Skokie, Illinois and Phoenix, Arizona. For twelve years, she served as a Brownie Leader for the Girl Scouts of America in Chicago, Illinois. She served as treasurer for Temple Beth Israel sisterhood in Skokie, Illinois. She also served terms as president and treasurer of the Phoenix chapter and treasurer of the Arizona Council of the Jewish Women International formerly B'nai Brith. Her kindness touched people's hearts wherever she went. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2003, at Sinai Mortuary, 4538 N. 16th Street, Phoenix, Arizona. The family suggests memorials be sent to any of the organizations that she was affiliated with.
