Wickenburg (AZ) Sun Wednesday, July 23, 1997 [The first few paragraphs are a remembrance by Editor Phil Swift] Cynthia Ann Quayle, 41, former co-owner and co-publisher of The Wickenburg Sun with her husband, Michael Quayle, died Thursday, July 17 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC after an extended illness. Mrs Quayle and her husband owned the Wickenburg Sun from 1986 to 1990, before selling the newspaper to Brehm Communications, Inc, of Rancho Bernardo, Calif. The couple then moved to Vincennes, Ind., where Michael Quayle is publisher of the Vincennes Sun-Commercial. Mrs Quayle was born Aug 7, 1955 in Johnson City, Tenn. A homemaker in Vincennes, she was a member of St James Episcopal Church and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. In addition to her husband, whom she married April 25, 1981, she is survived by two sons, Steven M Quayle and R Bryan Quayle, and a daughter, Jamie M Quayle, all of Vincennes. Also surviving are her parents, Richard Bates of Manila, Philippines, and Joyce Abbott of Sun City, Ariz; a sister, Theresa Connolly of Glendale, Ariz; and a brother, Michael Bates of Roxas City, Philippines. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, Daisy Bates of Johnson City, Tenn. A memorial service for Mrs Quayle will be at 8am today (Wednesday) at St Alban Episcopal Church in Wickenburg. The Rev Dan Gerrard will officiate. Funeral services in Vincennes will be at 10am (EST) today, at St James Episcopal Church. The Rev Carl Roos will officiate.
