Visitation with Rosary on Fri., July 25, 2003 at 10am at St. Judes Catholic Church, Pearce/ Sunsites, AZ. Funeral Mass to follow Rosary. Also submitted to the East Valley Tribune, Tempe, Arizona Thursday, July 24, 2003 Mercy Gonzales of Willcox, AZ died July 21, 2003 at her home at the age of 74. She was born in Mesa,AZ on October 10, 1928 to Alfano and Angelina (Valencia) Padilla. Mercy moved to Willcox in 1974 from Maricopa County and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Judes Catholic Church. On September 1, 1945 in Phoenix she married Tommy Gonzales. Survivors include her sons: Tom (Sandy) and Rudy (Virginia) both of Gilbert, AZ and Bob (Clarisa) of Willcox; daughters, Angie (Ernie) Vega of Queen Creek, AZ, Merci (Alex) Hernandez of Gilbert, AZ, Laura Carranza of Mesa, AZ, Susan (Homer) Garza of Las Cruces, NM, Marilou (Wayne) Valocchi of Gilbert, AZ and Patty (Gilbert) Granados of San Antonio, TX; along with 27 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Alfano Padilla, Jr. of Mesa, AZ; and her sisters, Betty Munoz of Mesa, AZ, Norma Feldman and Katy Willins both of Tucson, AZ, Vivien Lopez of Gilbert, AZ and Ellena Johnson of Reno, NV. Her husband, Tommy on January 4, 2003, her parents and her grandson Eddie Vega, preceded her in death. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Judes Catholic Church in Pearce/Sunsites, AZ with Funeral Mass to follow at the church. Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Community Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the St. Judes Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 328, Pearce, AZ 86525.
