The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, July 24, 2003 Donald Richard Hoover, Phd., passed away Friday, July 18, 2003. Surviving is his wife, Adrienne Dubois Hoover of Sun City, AZ, daughter, Shelley Stewart, of Greenwood, In., son, Donald Richard Hoover, Jr. of Blue Bell, Pa., brother, Gary Hoover, Kauai, Hi. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 4 nieces and nephews. Mr. Hoover received his Bachelor's and Master's degree from Michigan State University. He earned his Doctorate (Phd.) from University of Southern California. He moved to Sun City, AZ in 1990 from San Diego, CA. Mr. Hoover was a state leader in the development of guidance and counseling in Calif.. He was recognized for his roll through-out his lifetime with numerous awards. During his guidance and counseling career Mr Hoover continued to publish in professional journals as well as teach at the college level in southern California. In addition, Mr Hoover was an avid horseman, who enjoyed his time at Turf Paradise and Prescott Downs. The family suggests donations be made, in Mr Hoover's name, to the American Cancer Society, 12211 W Bell Rd., Ste 102, Surprise, AZ 85345. Private arrangements were made by Sunland Memorial Park & Mortuary.
