The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona 7/24/2003 - 7/25/2003 Leon Tavis, 59 of Tempe passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003. Born October 27, 1943 in Hardtner, Kansas. His family moved to Mesa in 1957 and Leon graduated from Mesa High in 1961. He served in the Air Force from 1961- 64. Leon retired from IBM. He was preceded in death by his father Cleo R Tavis, and survived by his wife Mary "Jay" Tavis; daughters, Leslie Ann Brown, and Kelly Jean Buechler; sons, Seth Andrew and Aaron Ray; grandchildren, David, Devin and Taylor. His remaining family includes his mother, Mary Thelma Tavis; sisters, Mary Lynn Hansen, Nancy Lea Butler, and Joetta Pearl Coen. Memorial services will be held at Resthaven Park 4310 E Southern Ave Phoenix, Saturday, July 26th at 4pm.
