CHIMIENTI, Brent (Dallas)


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Friday, January 6, 2012 - Brent “Dallas” Chimienti was born Jan. 5, 1948, in Sanger, Calif. His parents were Frank and Mari (Manjary) Chimienti. He was raised on a farm and did a lot of work with his father and brother. He graduated from Dinuba High School in Dinuba, Calif. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1969. He returned to California after his discharge and worked for Friant Water Users. He had three daughters, twins Angela and Brandi, and Nicole. He enjoyed woodworking, music, especially country and rock n’ roll, and he was very creative, innovative and young at heart. He moved to Atlantic, Iowa, to live closer to his daughter, Brandi, and her children. He remained there for a year and a half before moving to Arizona to enjoy the warmer weather. It was here that he met his significant other Lawona Newman. After the deterioration of Dallas’s health, he moved back to Iowa to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. He entered the Salem Lutheran Homes in Elk Horn, Iowa in December of 2011 and this is where he died Jan. 4, having attained the age of 63 years, 11 months and 30 days. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters, twins Angela Kelly, of Fresno, Calif., Brandi Romero, of Atlantic, Iowa, and Nicole Parker of California; Eddie Romero, (the son he never had); three grandchildren, Noah Romero, Arianna Romero and Micaela Parker; sister, Cathi Bartel; and brother, Frank Chimienti, both of California; his significant other, Lawona Newman, of Arizona; niece, Taylor Chimienti; nephews, Dylan Chimienti and Joey Chimienti; other relatives and friends. Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
