The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona 7/28/2003 - 7/29/2003 Charlie Peterson, 76, passed away on July 25, 2003 at Chandler Regional Hospital. He lived a faith filled, exciting and fun filled life with his wife, Helen, who he was married to for 55 years. They loved to travel, go to movies, eat out, bingo, casinos and laughter. He is survived by his wife, Helen, who was his High School sweetheart, his 3 children: Chuck (Fran), Debbie (Karl) Weber, Robert (Sharon), 8 grandchildren and their spouses: Billy, Jodi (Raul), Karri (Tim), Josh and Loren Peterson, Jeffrey (Brenda) Hosek, Autumn and Heath Peterson, and 5 great grandchildren: Tatum, Rylee, Jordan, Trinity and Bradley. He moved from Long Island, NY to Phoenix in 1970. He worked as a design engineer for Sperry for 30 years (NY and AZ) and 2 years with Honeywell in Phoenix. He retired in 1989. He was a founding member of the People of Joy prayer meeting and a coordinator of The City of the Lord Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community in Tempe, AZ for 19 years. He was a Sea Bee in the U.S. Navy and was in the invasion of Okinawa. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Long Island for many years. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister, usher and "Card Player" during his retirement years. Seeing his smile, hearing his laughter, feeling his prayers and seeing him in his Greek Fisherman Cap will surely be missed by all. He left us all with the peaceful feeling of knowing he's wrapped in God's arms. Visitation will be Monday, July 28, 2003 from 5-9:00 PM with a Wake Service at 7:30 PM at The City of the Lord, 711 W. University. Mass will be Tuesday, July 29, 2003, 10:00 AM at St. Andrews The Apostle Catholic Church, 3450 W. Ray Road, Chandler, AZ. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
