HIGGINS, Donald James

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Tuesday, January 10, 2012 - Donald James Higgins, 83, passed away Jan. 7, 2012 in Lake Havasu City. He was born on Jan. 18, 1928, in Omaha, Neb., to Leo and Irene Higgins. Don served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years and was honorably discharged. He and his wife, Vanthie,, moved to Lake Havasu City 21 years ago, coming from San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Don fell in love with Lake Havasu back in 1972 on a houseboat vacation. After years of returning and spending time in Havasu with his family, boating and camping, Vanthia and he decided to make Lake Havasu their home. He will be deeply missed. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Vanthia Higgins, of Lake Havasu City; son, Tracy Higgins; daughter, Donna Higgins; sister, Pat Proder; stepsons, Gary and Terry Johnson.
