Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Dec. 18, 2011, at 85, in Lake Havasu City. Margot Porter was born in Germany to Henry and Anna von Romatowski. The family later immigrated to the United States settling in Mass. It was here that Margot met and married Earl Richard Porter March 17, 1946.
They relocated from Mass. to Culver City, Calif., raising their four children, before retiring to Lake Havasu 21 years ago.
Margot is survived by her four children, Janis Racey (Joe), Vaughn Porter (Annette), Margot Bevilacqua (Danny) and Lisa Rayl (Tim); four grandchildren, Carrie Racey, Tim Rayl, Brooke Porter Phillips and Heather Porter; and three great-grandchildren, Kelan Phillips, Taylor Rayl and Blake Phillips.
Margot was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Margot enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing the penny and nickel slot machines across the river and her morning walks with Carley, her springer spaniel.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, the Women’s Republican Club and the Widow’s Club.
Private services are to be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Havasu Community Health Foundation.
Margot will be remembered as a compassionate listener, a life-long friend and a caring heart. She prized family above all else.
She will be missed.
