Vera Beatrice Worman, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at the home of her great-granddaughter, Heather Jones. She was born on a farm in Plymouth, IL, on January 1, 1918 to Chester and Alpha McIlmoil. She married Walter W. Worman on July 12, 1937. Their wedding meal was a hamburger, french fries and a chocolate malt that she continued to do on their anniversary.
While living in Galesburg, IL, Vera took in ironing at 3 cents a shirt to earn extra money. They moved to Tucson, AZ in 1945 with their two children, Sandra and Ronald. She led a full and busy life raising their children and working in various stores as a meat wrapper. She loved to sew, Canasta, basketball, ice cream, cashews and a cold beer.
She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, her daughter Sandra (Russ/12/31/11) and her son, Ronald (12/21/11).
She is survived by her grandchildren, Kathleen (Mike) Jones, Bryan Russ, Alice (Chris) Helm, Wesley (Heidi) Worman; nine great-grandchildren, Heather, Holly, Michael, Bryan Jones, Sarah & Jarod Boice, Taylor Russ, Nichalus, Zakary & Tommy Worman; 3 gr. gr. grandchildren, Ethan, Ryleigh & Jameson.
A memorial service for Vera, Sandra & Ronald will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Hansen Chapel 8314 N 7th St., Phx 602-944-1561.
