Georgia Simmons, 102, passed away in her sleep on Jan. 4, 2012. She was born in Cornelia, Ga., on Oct. 14, 1909, to Thomas P. and Abigail Tatum.
She attended school in Cornelia until she married in June 1925. They lived in Miami, Fla., where her son John T. Parker was born. After they divorced, she and her son returned to Cornelia.
In 1935, she moved to Atlanta, Ga., where she attended night school and worked in Rich's Department Store and later at Hotpoint as a secretary. In 1951, she married Oliver Andrews and they moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., where they lived until Oliver's death in 1972. In 1974, she married Charles Simmons and they lived in Ormond Beach, Fla., until his death in 1999. She moved to Prescott, Ariz., and Las Fuentes in 2006 to be near her son.
Georgia was active socially at Las Fuentes. She was a sharp bridge player and an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, John T. Parker (Katinka) of Prescott Valley, Ariz.
Interment will be in Lookout Mountain, Tenn.
